At a glance
In Latin America, the COVID-19 pandemic only exacerbated existing educational challenges. Between 2013 and 2019, learning inequality in LATAM increased by 49% in reading, while during the pandemic, learning poverty is estimated to have risen from 52 to 79% (The World Bank, 2022).
Our CreceLee initiative in Peru, that finalized in 2023, supported children aged 3-12 through digital reading. From the rural Andes to urban centers, we have worked in under-resourced communities and leverage technology to foster a culture of reading in and out of school.
- We achieve impact through the BookSmart reading experience, available anytime, on any device
- We provide educators, families, and reading champions with continuous support, digital reading tools, and materials aligned with Peru’s educational priorities.
- We work with partners to get children reading at least 25 books a year with understanding, because regular reading improves reading comprehension, social-emotional learning, and digital literacy.

Discover how CreceLee supported family reading during COVID-19 and beyond
CreceLee
With the support of the Kaphan Foundation and in partnership with World Vision, we designed CreceLee, a holistic school-to-home digital reading program, to support primary school students. The five-year program launched in 2019 with the aim of supporting 10,000 students by bringing tablets and our BookSmart reading solution to 20 public primary schools. In December 2022, CreceLee had already grown to support 75 schools and 42,000+ children through BookSmart. We're now expanding CreceLee to reach 170 schools across 7 regions.
