In order to get the next million students reading, we need a scalable solution that can be adopted by entire school systems and communities.
The project
Ghana District Scale (GDS) is Worldreader’s first-ever district-run digital reading program that will facilitate the scaling of digital reading to all 90 public primary schools within the Kwaebibirem Municipality in Ghana.
The aim of this project is to build a model that demonstrates how digital reading in schools can be scaled nationwide by creating systems-level change starting at the district level.
Project Design
E-readers
We’ll be delivering e-readers filled with 495,000 e-books to 45,000 students. The titles will include relevant textbooks as well as a wide variety of storybooks.
Capacity-building
We’ll be building district-wide capacity to deploy, train and manage the implementation of the e-reading program across 90 schools.
Integration
We’ll be supporting the district to fully integrate programs into their existing structures to ensure the programs are sustained for long-term impact.
