The Worldreader School Reading program aims to improve literacy, drive learning, and promote a love of reading among students.
Reading in Schools
Today, millions of school-aged children around the world do not have access to textbooks. According to UNESCO, an astonishing 617 million children and adolescents worldwide are not reaching minimum proficiency levels in reading. A lack of books prevents literacy acquisition and learning, blocking students from reaching their full potential.
How we work
The School Reading program delivers e-readers loaded with relevant and informative digital books, teacher support and community engagement activities to improve the educational outcomes of students and encourage reading both inside and outside of school.
Key Projects
Ghana District Scale
Ghana District Scale is our first-ever district-run digital reading program for schools. This project will facilitate the scaling of digital reading to all 90 public primary schools within the district of Kwaebibirem in Ghana.
GEC-T
We’ve partnered with Camfed to give female students access to digital learning resources and support so they can develop the English literacy and language skills needed to succeed in school and throughout their lives.
